Dear Brother Knights of Columbus and families,

On July 1st, we Canadians have a wonderful good fortune to celebrate Canada’s 158th Birthday. 

On July 1st, we Canadians have a wonderful good fortune to celebrate Canada’s 158th Birthday. What a blessed opportunity to share some special thoughts about our beloved Country and our KofC virtue of Patriotism… 

Millions of Canadians will be celebrating with barbeques sizzling and fireworks blasting. There is much reason to celebrate. We live in one of the greatest and most beautiful countries in the world. We can stand proud for we are a country of vast opportunity peace and economic prosperity where freedom abides – freedom to fulfill our destiny under God. 

Canadians are a people of many cultures, traditions and religions, who live together in relative harmony, acceptance and solidarity. Canada’s approach is not to mould us into a stereo-type ‘Canadian’, but to celebrate our cultural diversity and our unique traditions.

As we prayerfully thank God for our marvellous country, let us pray that we continue to grow in respect of one another, ever striving for social justice. We also pray that we never totally focus on ourselves alone, but on our loving God and all of the people of the world with love, generosity, wisdom. and understanding. Happy Birthday, Canada, we love you!

And I hope and pray that we will celebrate Canada Day with much gratitude and sincere thanksgiving! So dear Brother Knights, let us all honour our Knightly virtue of “Patriotism”!!!

Also do enjoy the summer holidays - a time of rest and relaxation, but do promise to take the good Lord Jesus with you wherever you are and do pray for one another...

PS:  Speaking of Anniversaries, please pray for me, your State Chaplain, as I prayerfully will celebrate my 59th year of Priesthood on July 2nd...
